This is more of a “despair in search of hope” downer post.

We’re in the 8th week of ethnic cleansing/genocide campaign by Israel against Palestinians, with only amplified support for Israel - at the cost of credibility of its supporting Western states -

Fascism seems quite viable in the expression of the state of Israel, with this overt apartheid coming to brazen exposure but also in Israel’s dismantling and repression of internal dissent - such that it is - and overt genocidal rhetoric against Gaza and Palestine at large.

Fascism also finds its reemergence in the overt and brazen support that Western governments have for Israel and repression of dissidents against Israel. Choosing to support this massacre, against the will of the people, and violently fighting their own citizens to do so.

Not to erase for the fact that Israelis have been living in a bizarre ethnostate with republican rituals and exchange of power, in their exclusive dominion, but also imposing apartheid and long-term erasure of Palestine since its inception in 1948. Or that Europeans and Americans have been on this genocidal rampage for five centuries now.

My forlorn disappointment is that for a period in history, things seem to have been on the trajectory for the better. And now there is no more pretense at that; the illusion is shattered, the ruling class gone from cynical, indifferent, yet malleable to outright delusional and murder-suicidal.

All of this which, as many leaders in South America have pointed out, the Israel-Gaza massacre appears to be more dress rehearsal in the employment of combat tactics, suppression, propaganda, censorship and genocidal intent making manifest for future scenarios of social and environmental collapse.

Beyond faith and hope, I’m looking for tangible and material reasons to believe “Nah this is just the beginning of the end. It’s only lamentable that it takes this long”.
