It’s a pretty interesting story about a guy who tried to commit suicide instead of renounce Falun Gong practice. The prison sent him to a hospital where they conducted surgery over the rusted tools the guy ingested and without clear consent. Apparently after open chest surgery he just walked out of the hospital fire escape and went to Thailand.
The article seems to describe an incredibly incompetant security system more than anything, unless there wasn’t as much actual orchestrated state action as the article speculates.
