Take every single day you’re entitled to. The days of working yourself to death so you get a pat on the back by the boss is well over. You come first

Bro there’s still so many idiots at my workplace working their life away for a stupid card that says “best performer of the month”. I got no problem with that but the issue that I have is they make life hard for guys like me. I know and they know that they can’t afford a shitty 4 bedroom house so why the fuck slave so hard. I really don’t get it

Assuming America it’s because there is a pervasive mentality that the poor here are just temporarily embarrassed millionaires and that through their hard work, they will be restored to their millionaire status. It’s fucking disgusting that companies take advantage of this naivety and sad to see people falling for it. These people grind themselves to dust for a pittance and the reality of the situation rarely hits them.

I was set to take one week off this week, starting Thursday.

I got home on Friday for the first two day weekend I’ve had since August, and couldn’t relax to save my life as all I could think of was that I had to go back in on Monday.

I called my boss, told him how I was feeling, and asked him how much I could pay him to take two weeks off starting immediately.

To my great surprise, he told me to just take the time at no cost or penalty.

I fly out in the morning and won’t be back to work until November 6.

The hard part was I was trying to have this conversation with him in the office, and it was like I wasn’t speaking English. He seemed to be unable to hear what I was saying and kept changing the topic to his goals for the profit sharing plan. I went so far in this conversation too say out loud that I don’t even need what I make today, and that I’m falling apart mentally.

As that statement was not related to money, he simply couldn’t hear it let alone comprehend it.

Frustrating is not a strong enough word.
