Sharing my photo of me at Vasquez Rocks that I mentioned in a different post.
Looks much smaller in person. Didn’t get a chance to get upclose. I was cutting it close on time to make it to Universal Studios Hollywood for Fan Fest Nights (it was a 2 hour drive in stop and go traffic for me).
But um, yay! I got to see the Famous Rock (the formation featured throughout Trek). There is another formation called Witch’s Hat (for looking like a witch’s hat).
🎺 DAH DAH da-da-DAHHHH… DAH DAH da-da-DAHHHH… 🥁 Bum bum BUM BUM… BUM bum BUM BUM… 🎺 DAH-da-DAAAAAAA! 🥁 clash! BAM BAM! clash! BAM BAM! 🎺 WAHHHH-wah WAHHHH-wah WAHHHHHH…
The sound you’re hearing is me screaming in intense jealousy. Both of your trip and the outfit! LLAP
🤭 Thanks. Unfortunately, unless I planned a better day to Agua Dulce (the city which Vasquez Rocks is located), I wouldn’t dare make the drive again. On a Saturday, there was so much traffic for the 64 mile drive.
Timing is everything with LA traffic. Right now I could get from Westwood to Vasquez rocks in a breezy 45 minutes, but that’s because it’s 11:25 pm.
I was coming from Riverside County.
Ah! Well there’s your problem, Captain! Without warp speed, we’ll never get across the city!
If only I had a transporter available.
As someone who’s not familiar with the LA area, it blows my mind that those things are basically in the middle of an urban area.
I visited once and it is really funny how you drive through normal looking suburbs thinking “there is no way we are anywhere near Mintaka III” then suddenly there it is.
Not this. This is pretty far removed from urban. 40 miles doesn’t seem like much unless you drove 2 hours to get there.
40 miles from Universal Studios that is.
40 miles? I thought this was in the TMZ.
Perhaps “urban” is the wrong word, but it ain’t exactly Cestus III, y’know?
I mean, Raffi lived here. Memory Alpha says the appearances in PIC are Vasquez Rocks, not a differently named location.
Just keep in mind our “SoCal” urban area is pretty fucking enormous, it sort of engulps the areas of natural beauty, connecting multiple cities, and we have too many cars. I love it, but visitors often have unrealistic expectations of how many places they can get to in a day.
Yep. Many people for example mistakenly think Los Angeles is near Disneyland.
This was in the first Roswell series as well. Cool pic.
Lol I just finished watching “Arena”. It’s a cool place, every fan should visit.
Many other episodes and not just TOS, filmed there.
