Probably no connection (any more than the recurring spoons are), but back in “Church on Ruby Road” Mrs Flood told the Doctor “You look like you’ve lost a pound and found a sixpence,” and in this episode the Doctor finds 50p. Which he immediately gives to Conrad, so that was money well spent /s
