Hey everyone,

I’m currently setting up my Home Assistant Green and so far most things work fine - I’ve been able to migrate all my Zigbee accessories over and also managed to get Matter/Thread working using the Connect ZBT-1.

There is one accessory that I just can’t get to work though and that’s my Eve Motion blinds window cover. Pairing them via Thread worked perfectly fine and basic diagnostics seem to work too, however I’m unable to control it in any meaningful way like opening or closing the blinds. The respective actions just aren’t available. Some basic functions like identifying the device work though. When I used them in my old Home Kit Home (also via Matter/Thread) with my Home Pod as my Thread border router they worked without any issues. This leads me to believe there might be some sort of misconfiguration I don’t fully understand and that the device interview function is unable to fix on its own.

Did anybody manage to integrate them into their home yet or has any other suggestions on what to do?

These are the exact blinds: https://csa-iot.org/csa_product/eve-motionblinds-6/

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Cheers

There may be some confusion here, so let me clarify some stuff to make sure I’m not confusing you:

    • Your ZBT module is a bridge, so that’s not an issue
    • When people mention “HomeKit” in reference to HA, they mean the HomeKit module, and not the Apple hardware

So you’ve got the device paired to your HA instance via ZBT+Thread. There is also a way to pair devices with the HomeKit integration, and not directly through the Thread border router. Reset your blinds then try pairing them through the HomeKit integration in HA, then see if the controls pop up as you expect them.

Thanks again for the detailed explanation, I think there might indeed be some confusion on my side as I’m fairly new to the ecosystem.

I’ll definitely try this when I’m home, I didn’t know you could pair devices via the HomeKit integration too. And yes, currently my blinds are connected via the Matter integration and the Thread Border Router/ZBT-1.
