I got one of these yesterday. I was surprised they didn’t even bother spoofing a US number.
Inconsistent toll by tag enforcement probably isn’t helping. In Orlando I had a bill from one agency and and account with another. If it reads my electronic tag it pays from the one account, but if it mis-reads it charges by tag in another agency… I nearly got a ticket despite making sure my main account was paid off. The confusion could have toll notices from an unfamiliar source seem valid.
I’m also in Orlando, and I’ve been getting these text like crazy
I literally just deleted one of these texts before reading this post. Started seeing a lot more of these after creating a LinkedIn account… hmmm.

What a stupid name for a scam.
It’s a portmanteau of “SMS phishing”.
I see this as an unnecessary distinction since you still need a phone and “phishing” is a portmanteau of “phone fishing.”
Still stupid.
Headline:
Don’t click on road toll texts.
From the article:
The FBI is warning Americans not to respond to scam road toll collection texts
FFS ABC “news”…
These are very different things.
Nice clickbait!! 🤦♀️
