Italy’s police chief has ordered Airbnb-style owners to verify the identity of guests in person rather than remotely as visitor numbers surge, according to a circular seen by AFP on Tuesday. The measure is put into place following security concerns linked to the expansion of tourist accommodation.

    Yeah, those are really great for hiding from authorities. Use some burner account, rent a flat, never meet anybody. Osama bin Laden could still be alive living in some AirBnb in Barcelona.

      You don’t even need to share the names of everybody who’s going to be staying. My sister-in-law likes to rent AirBnBs for the whole extended family (I no longer participate because fuck AirBnB and fuck that level of crowding while on vacation).
