I live in Los Angeles, I see homeless people regularly and give regularly. When I don’t have much money I don’t give much, when I have more I give more. I actually specifically got the ATM and make sure to carry $5 and $20 bills specifically for this. I am lucky enough that I can afford to give what I do but I regularly give people$20.

Jg1@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If I have a cupcake. And then I take the frosting off the cupcake. Is it still a cupcake, or a muffin?6·3 months agoWhen I see this question I can only be sad for people who can consider it perplexing. Yeah - if you have a sufficiently boring muffin and a sufficiently dense cake, you could see them as pretty similar but … eat better food.
Put some good stuff in your muffins (blueberries, poppy seeds, nuts, chocolate, etc) and learn to keep your cakes lighter and fluffier (especially for cupcakes) instead of rich like a muffin.
As others have said, they are different batters, the cooked result of both should be pretty noticeably different with it without frosting.
That article makes it clear it is less harmful.

The philosophical strangler by Eric Flint, absolutely.
Definitely do it. It is a great feeling and helps them. Don’t let the fear of being scammed prevent you from helping people.
