down with this sort of thing!

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 20 points 3 months ago

Ambiguity is the true enemy of the proletariat!

[–] 201dberg@lemmygrad.ml 49 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Most communists: I believe society should work towards the betterment of all and that workers deserve full rights and benefit of their labor.

Chuds: "but what about gay people?"

Most communists: "....... They are people and this will be give the same rights and benefits as all other people.......?"

Chuds: " COMMUNISM IS DESTROYING TRADITIONAL FAMILIES"

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 3 months ago

accurate 🤣

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 39 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They’ve always been like this. Remember, “race mixing is communist”?

[–] muad_dibber@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Women's empowerment becomes "communilization of women", etc.

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

But you Communists would introduce community of women, screams the bourgeoisie in chorus.

The bourgeois sees his wife as a mere instrument of production. He hears that the instruments of production are to be exploited in common, and, naturally, can come to no other conclusion than that the lot of being common to all will likewise fall to the women.

He has not even a suspicion that the real point aimed at is to do away with the status of women as mere instruments of production.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 36 points 3 months ago (1 children)

its funny that communists have nothing to do with the withering of these things lol

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Indeed, they're already disappearing under capitalism as social norms change. Although, it's worth noting that social reproduction is tied to material conditions and economic organization. For example, women equally participating in the workforce necessarily upends traditional family structure.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 3 months ago

yup and women+children were integrated to the workforce as the development of industry started taking off to increase the supply of labor-power and reduce wages. the structure of the family in a given society is the reflection of the development of the society!

[–] bobs_guns@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 3 months ago

Yeah if every adult has to work then you need at least three adults per family to keep up with child-rearing and housework without straight-up burning people out.

[–] knfrmity@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

The "traditional" or nuclear family these conservatives want to protect is itself a recent invention. Before industrialization and capitalism families and communities looked quite different.

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 3 months ago

Right, the culture is a product of the material conditions at a particular point in history. It's not an abstract thing that exists outside material reality.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 3 months ago

yup and depends in class too, i can't imagine a traditional family in the proletariat during the industrial revolution in England for example.

The 20th century traditional middle class american family was only possible due to the concessions, segregation and imperialism.

[–] M68040@hexbear.net 32 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

And, it’s like, the right is as irritating as shit at every possible opportunity about having their way be the only way. Why would I want to abide by their cultural institutions and norms when they transparently have nothing for me and plan on being a massive pain in the ass the whole time even if I acquiesce?

I don’t want them railroading me through life when there’s already enough shit depriving me of any significant choice in what I do and how I do it. They brought the steamroller on themselves.

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 33 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's pretty funny how they completely lack self awareness in that regard. They're really afraid that the communists will impose their values on the right, but have absolutely no qualms about imposing their own values on everyone else. I find this tends to be the key difference between communists and the fash. We're open and honest about what we actually want and why.

[–] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 3 months ago

We’re open and honest about what we actually want and why.

Even the anti communists in the fifties admitted that publicly

[–] lars@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 3 months ago

Holy shit—this is the gospel in a way I’ve never considered it. Specifically:

Why would I want to abide by their cultural institutions and norms when they transparently have nothing for me and plan on being a massive pain in the ass the whole time even if I acquiesce?

Like, in the marketplace of ideas, they have absolutely no products to sell.

[–] batsforpeace@hexbear.net 31 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I think they choose those talking points strategically because they don't want to talk about money too much because they'd get exposed quickly as being pro inequality and immoral (the classic you only deserve to live well if you are 'worthy' ie a small business owner) so they try to cover it up by focusing on anti climate change reforms, pronouns, trans sports people, and things like that to scare their listeners/viewers about the left, classic calculated fearmongering where they try to pick tabloid level stuff they think will land with their base. It's another question why it even lands when it's mostly about personal liberation, from abortion to trans rights.

Btw another funny thing they do sometimes is also paint liberals and centrists as 'far left radicals', put them in the same bin, like I heard 'Von der Leyen is a communist' not long ago lol.

oh that's usual, conservatives call anyone they dont like a communist. happens even in mexico.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yep, I usually listen to those comments from the classic "white christian Panista" family.

Attaching the following meme because it is funny:

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 3 months ago

jajaja si, estos son los que dicen que los priistas son comunistas.

[–] nohaybanda@hexbear.net 24 points 3 months ago
[–] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 3 months ago

I don't know why it's so satisfying to watch braindead conservatives whine 24/7 about muh traditional values from Middle Ages after communism destroyed it all and made LGBT dictatorship as Marx intended.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 18 points 3 months ago (3 children)

we fuckin love christian values, what are they on about.

I loved it when God smote Ananias and Sapphira for being petite bourgeois traitors to the commune.

That's what they mean by Christian value right? It's right in the Bible, new testament even.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

also expecting the debt to be paid back? and with interest? smh at those heretics

[–] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 3 months ago (2 children)

How dare they call me bald? Send in the bears!

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

would trump be president if we could send the bears against people with dumb haircuts? smuglord

[–] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Does the Bible ever say that it didn't mean bear in the context of gay men, because that interpretation is way funnier

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Some translations refer to them as she-bears. So we can assume they are butch bears.

[–] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

In Latin, the term for she-bear is ursa, which becomes ursula with the diminutive

That said, Vulgate uses ursi (which is the male plural). Typical queer women erasure, swallowing my head.

[–] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 3 months ago

She-bears isn't explicitly defined in the bible, so it's safe to enjoy the thought of lesbians with giant beards beating up young chuds who made fun of your hair.

[–] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 3 months ago

Bro really said: it's punishment time!

[–] amemorablename@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 3 months ago

Chuds are like:

  • "traditional family: leave it to beaver depiction that never existed in RL"
  • "sanctity of marriage: everyone should have to marry the way I do or else my marriage feels icky"
  • "christian values: the bible says leave it to beaver is the right family model and everyone should have to marry the way I do and also I should get to control women, anyone who says otherwise is blasphemous and weak and did I mention I want to control women? why don't I get to do that. what gives."
[–] Rasm635u@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 3 months ago

[–] RedColossus@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 3 months ago
