I can't get over how nice Alexandrite is to use
Blahaj Lemmy Meta
Blåhaj Lemmy is a Lemmy instance attached to blahaj.zone. This is a group for questions or discussions relevant to either instance.
For a desktop client, it actually works pretty nice on mobile too.
one thing that might need fixing is the alternative interface does not display the correct fav icon
the only thing better than old reddit is old lemmy <3
(i can't seem to log into mlmym though; i don't know if it's just because 2fa is authenticated but when i try it redirects to the log on page and says 400 Bad Request: missing_totp_token)
Yeah, you just need to login again and put in your totp code this time. Kinda annoying that it doesn't provide a field for your totp code on the first page.
I like to think that estrogen is building my alternative Frontend
this is fantastic.. absolutely love alexandrite
I cannot express how happy I am you've implemented Alexandrite :)
But it's a lot. A lot of happy.
It's not perfect. It doesn't reveal user level instance blocking, and some of the/mod admin stuff can't be used properly through it, but for regular browsing, it's stunningly beautiful!
Aye, there's a few things not there yet but it'll come I'm sure :)
It is beautiful you're right, but even better than that it's so usable. It's neat, it's tidy, everything has room to breathe. @sheodox clearly put massive amounts of ux thought into it.
well, there’s a frontend named after me, now i have to use it /j
Yep. We'll be very upset if you don't use it! :P
i mean…
wait. It doesn’t allow posting of pictures in the comments?? :( I just took a screenshot of your comment in the frontend :(
Yeah, looks like you're right.
Is there a way in the Alexandrite UI to make the posts go over all the way to the left? Or is the appeal that it doesn't? =/
If frontends are things that can just be hosted using (mostly) the same amount of resources the default frontends would use, what about a frontend that makes use of both lemmy and sharkey. I know that the 2 services have some overlap thanks to the protocols. And i personally may not get much use from such a frontend being a primarily mobile user. But i guess that i'm just curious if there are efforts for a multi-protocol fediverse frontend.
Not that I am aware of, and not that it's not possible, but the protocols are quite different, the Lemmy API, the Misskey API (with various dialects for Sharkey, Iceshrimp and Firefish) and the Mastodon API (with Akkoma, Pleroma, etc) are all very different from each other and even making a third party UI that completely understands and implements a single API / dialect is an enormous undertaking.
