Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them. From executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld, starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and more. All episodes arrive April 11 on Prime Video.
There is a feeling my whole body gets when I see a wasteland and hear that song. Nothing in this trailer gives me concern. The visuals look great, all the references look great, the tone seems great, I’m SO AMPED.
Any concern I had about them fucking this up are pretty much gone now. I am so goddamn excited!
I think the ghoul could have looked better imo. His skin looked way to smooth and nice. He looked like just a human with a deep tan and no nose.
From the trailer it looks like he was an actor before the bombs fell so maybe he took care of his skin as he transformed into a ghoul and that’s why he doesn’t look as messed up?
I would love to know what skin care brand he used to stave off radiation burns
Same here. In a world where a quick nap or a shot from a stimpak cures a broken leg he probably just rubbed dirt on his face or something
Don’tsuckdon’tsuckdont’suckdon’tsuck…
Sadly, it will.
If you go in adamant that something will suck, it almost definitely will.

It looks like it’s not taking itself too seriously, which I’m thankful for. The small moments of humor were crucial to the feeling of the games imo.
I really hope the show is good, I’m actually looking forward to it.
Well gee, a video game TV show adaptation that might actually be faithful to the source material? (Looking at you The Witcher) Too early to be sure, but here’s hoping.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up given Amazon’s track-record but yeah, it does look like it could be pretty good
Amazon’s track record isn’t all bad. They adapted The Boys pretty well. And then there’s… um, oh yeah, Invincible is another one.
Really, you didn’t like The Witcher? What did you think was wrong with it
Wow, never imagined Matt Berry being the perfect voice for Mr Gutsy.
The robot in the trailer is a Mr. Handy
transformed into a mr gutsy as it seems
[ Everybody liked this ]
Look good
Is there a reason why movies/series are still posting 1080p trailers? After spending so many millions, is a 4k trailer really that expensive to render?
Yes, it is much more expensive, and they have to be further along in production. 99% of viewers are not watching youtube trailers in 4k. Even the people who have 4k televisions are watching this on their phones, tablets, and computer screens.
The trailer was released today and all episodes come out in April 11th. That’s in barely over a month from now so I don’t know why being “further along in production” is relevant in this case.
Also, 99%? Where did you get that number from? Not to mention that resolutions higher than 1080p are common in all of the device categories you mentioned.
On top of all this, youtube uses a shittier codec if you upload in 1080p so that’s (at least in part) why the image quality in this trailer is noticeably bad.
To make what was shaping up to be a way too long answer, very short: that figure is exaggerated but their point still stands. People with a 4k capable device, and internet access that allows streaming 4k, are very, very far from representing the majority of people with an internet access. I’d argue they’re even very far from the majority in “rich” countries
That’s sort of beside the point though? I can’t see how the cost of making the trailer in 4k makes even the slightest dent in a project of this magnitude. I mean, the source video already has to be 4k (or higher) so they’re intentionally rendering at a lower resolution. I can’t think of a single reason that would reasonably explain this.
I was worried when they had Walter in the vault video.
Some parts look cheap to be honest, while others look quite charming. I say if they’re upfront with Goggin’s character in the first episode and don’t try to make it the most predictable twist in TV history since rings of power, I’m willing to give it a chance.
I have next to zero hope for this.
The PIP boy is facing the wrong way 🤦♂️
Also where’s the NCR?
She is wearing a vault 33 suit. Since it isn’t a vault from any of the games we don’t know when this is. It could be before Vault 13 opened up in the original game, then the vaultdweller will not have helped Tandy in Shady Sands join together with other towns to create the NCR yet. The Brotherhood having the large airship seems out of timeline though they might have had it all along and just not brought it into the open until Fallout 4.
In the Vanity Fair article. Says the show takes place 9 years after the events of Fallout 4, in 2296. The first game is set in the year of 2161.
