ELI5, why would an Islamist terrorist target Swedes, the day of a football match ?

I can’t see why you would kill for football, but I thought being a football supporter isn’t really in accordance with radical Islam

Muslims have been killing “infidels” for any and no reason at all since the 8th century. They continue to this day. Some use flimsy excuses for gruesomely murdering innocents, but the one undeniable fact remains constant: Muhammad told them to. Islam is a violent, medieval ideology which has no place in modern society.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Two people have been shot dead in the Belgian capital Brussels on Monday evening, police have said.

The AFP news agency said the alleged attacker was still at large, according to prosecutors.

A spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office said an investigation had been opened but did not speculate on the gunman’s motive.

Sweden’s national football team are playing Belgium in a Euro 2024 qualifier, although it is unclear whether the victims were in the city for the match.

Belgian media reported that the gunman, who used an automatic rifle, fled the scene.

The attack reportedly happened at 19:00 local time (17:00 GMT; 18:00 BST) near the Boulevard d’Ypres in central Brussels.

The original article contains 131 words, the summary contains 111 words. Saved 15%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

And people wonder why they far right is gaining traction.

They seem to be the only ones willing to admit what the root cause is, never mind being the ones to address it.

It’s a symbiotic relationship. The European extremists say or do vile shit. The Muslim extremists recruit and say or do vile shit. The European extremists recruit and say or do vile shit and so on. And on it goes.

The difference is that one of these groups is way more powerful and can hide their vile shit in politics and media and among “lone wolf attacks”. Terrorism is almost always perpetrated by people without access to political/official power.

        That’s just bullshit.

What these guys do that they deserve to be killed over?

What did Sweden do to this terrorist that is so bad he is right to kill someone?

99% of the time when someone is described as far right they aren’t going around killing people. So the far right is too large of a population to compare to these muslims terrorist that have killed people.

We will never know what these 2 Swedes did or did not do. Likely nothing. That is how terrorism work. But perhaps they picked a fight and lost. Either way. Not the point here.

EDIT: I need to stay more on top of my news. Seems the perp released some statement about wanting to commit an act. So yeah. They likely did absolutely nothing. But you know why is Sweden in the crosshairs of extremist Muslims? Because of an Extremist Dane/Swede Rasmus Paludan that has been harassing Swedish and Danish Muslims with impunity under “freedom of expression” rules. This is the very definition of symbiosis. All the extremists Muslim organizations fed like mad off of Paludan. What do you think Paludan supported are doing right now!? Feeding on this energy recruiting. Plotting their next more. END EDIT

The rest of my pots- you misread not simply ignored. You are ignoring a lot of far right violence to try to make your argument.

But I still mention your point. The White/European far right does not need random acts of terrorism or violence. They sit in the government. They have way more powerful tools at their disposal.

So a guy saying something “offensive” excuses a bunch of fanatics murdering innocents? How is that proportional? Are you equally lenient with white supremacists who murder innocents as well, or do you have a double standard depending on the color of the skin of the murderer?

They don’t wonder. They know exactly why. They’re just too conceited to admit they might be wrong. They’d rather continue to allow innocent people to be murdered than admit their mistake.

The root cause is not Muslims. The root cause is not an ethnic group of people. The root cause is extremism which was developed from people being oppressed by imperialism.

As an savvy ex-muslim, I can tell you that Islam is definitely a big reason. And partially because Islam by definition is an empirialist ideology, that festers in any nation like cancer. So you’re partially right. But the opressed here (brainwashed really) are the one who are committing these atrocities.

That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. The root cause is insane cults brainwashing children into believing they must obey magical sky creatures (whose words only old paedophiles can interpret) because none of the followers are willing to admit they were scammed by some “prophet” thousands of years ago.

The whole Abrahamic cult is full of them, no matter what sect. Not just the sick fixation with disfiguring childrens genitalia. The prophet Muhammed had child “wives”.
